In 2020/2021 Single MOMM served 2066 families and identified 645 additional single mom led families in rural areas that need our services. Single moms need affordable housing, quality childcare, and vocations that are conducive to parenting. These needs often make it necessary for women to move their families to the rural areas around Grand Traverse County and commute in for work. With the cost of living increasing, fuel and transportation has become harder to afford and has made it impossible for many rural families to drive into Grand Traverse to participate in our services.

In response to this overwhelming need, Single MOMM launched a rural expansion initiative in 2021.

Through the generosity of The Carl Lemcool Foundation and private donors we obtained a 28-foot classroom on wheels and refurbished it into a mini–Single MOMM office. This mobile office is now serving Wexford/Missaukee counties with our Mentorship 360 program, Acquire classes, reVIVE course, and resource networking for single mom families. Karin Stevens, our Area Director is leading the expansion of this first mobile office. By the summer of 2022, our goal is to have a Local Director hired for these counties.

Single MOMM has the expansion goal to acquire 2 additional mobile offices and begin our programming in Benzie/Leelanau counties in September of 2023 and bring our services to Kalkaska/Antrim counties in the fall of 2024!
