Welcome to Hibernate 2022 – Week Two

When I was a little girl, I had an oversized, overstuffed white and pink rocking chair. It sat in the corner of my room, where the walls tucked around it and there was just enough space to rock. When I had the overwhelming desire to be held, I would curl up with a blanket in my rocking chair. Safety was found in the small space. Enveloped in this space, life was quieter and gentler. As I grew, I brought audio books into my space. I think there is something in each of us that yearns for the comforting cadence that exists when someone reads to us.

I have a nook in my home and as an adult my soul still needs a small space, to feel held in. When the storms are raging around me or within me, I find rest in this space. Tucked in with my Bible, a hot drink, and cozy blanket my nook embraces me. This February what small space, what corner in your world can you find rest in?

“Come to me all who are weary, and you will find rest” Matthew 11:28

With Love,
Jennifer

“Are we there yet?”….this was the twenty-second time in an hour my daughter asked me if we had reached our destination. We were South Dakota bound for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I thought it would be a great adventure for my small family of three. Yet somewhere between Southern Michigan and Chicago I felt a heavy loneliness traveling with my two small children. Pulling into a Cracker Barrel to hit the restrooms and get some snacks for the road I eyed the audio book section. Every Cracker Barrel has a rack of audio books that can be checked out and returned at any other Cracker Barrel in the nation. I grabbed one and off we went. What a game changer! My children were engaged, and I felt like I had a traveling companion.

My joy over audio books has never diminished and they now rejoin me in my nook. This week consider trying an audiobook, together as a family or one just for you.
