About These Resources

We've found these informative or networking sites on the web. We find them, read them and explore them. We do not, however, try every product or check the advise on every site for accuracy. So please, please use your best judgement in ordering or taking advice from these sites. It's always best to get the wise counsel of someone you trust, too, before spending money or trying a suggestion you find online.

Locate a local chapter through this international site. You would be surprised what kind of help you can find through The Salvation Army, from food ans shelter to mom's getaway camps.

US Government Sites

Government Benefits Website
"Are there government benefit programs available to help you?

GovBenefits.gov will help you answer that question. Our online screening tool is free, easy-to-use, and completely confidential. We do not require your name, phone number, Social Security number, or any other information that could be used to identify you. You answer a series of questions about yourself, and then GovBenefits.gov returns a list of government benefit programs you may be eligible to receive along with information about how you can apply.

Whether it's a direct payment, a loan, insurance, training, or other services - there may be government benefit programs available to help you."

US Gov't Jobs Website

Database of FREE Legal Help
Quoted from the site: "Michigan LawHelp is a guide to free & low-cost civil legal services. What can you find here? All of the free legal aid programs, other community resources, and basic information about your legal rights."

Definitely worth checking out. We didn't check all the links, though, so beware of law offices who claim to represent you for free, but later take a big portion of a settlement or charge you extra fees. It's better to stick with government agencies.

Michigan Housing Development Authority
"Welcome to MSHDA – Your Affordable Housing Partner. We didn't check all the links, though, so beware of law offices who claim to represent you for free, but later take a big portion of a settlement or charge you extra fees. It's better to stick with government agencies.
