All your life you've searched for peace. True peace. The kind that doesn't dissappear as soon as the vacation, the intimacy, the party ends. We all have.
True and lasting peace comes from being loved and taken care of by someone who loves you unconditionally. Someone who knows everything about you and everything you've ever done and still loves you. Someone who would die for you to make sure that you would live.
Unfortunately, too many of us look for this someone in the people we know or hope to know. In a lover or a spouse, a movie icon or an "American Idol".
But there is only one person, God & man in one, the Lord Jesus, who knows exactly what you are going through, knows exactly what you need and is longing to have a relationship with you. Do you cringe when you read the name Jesus Christ? Do you say, "Oh, another Jesus message, I've heard all that before"? Chances are you haven't heard about the real Jesus. And if you haven't read the Bible a lot, you won't know Him.
God created people for one reason and one reason only. He wanted beings whom he could love and share with, protect and provide for. It's the reason He created you. And He wants desperately for you to know Him.
So desperately that He sent His Son, Jesus, to walk this earth and give His life so that you could learn who the Father is and live with Him in eternal peace and a love so powerful, it bathes everything in light.
And Jesus willing gave up Heaven for a time and His life, so that you don't have to live everyday on this Earth in fear and loneliness, dreading the future.
Yeah, so you've made a mess of your life. We all have (Romans 3:23).
But God won't let anything you've done keep you from Him (Romans, Chp. 8). If you turn to Him, Jesus will set you free from all sin and from death and will reconcile you to His father, your Father. Not a human, faulty, destructive father, but the one true Father. The Creator of the universe. Jesus said, "Those that have seen me, have seen the Father" (John 14:9). So by studying the life of Jesus we can get a picture of what God, the Father, is really like.
But you must draw near to Him and ask Jesus to purify you. James 4: 8 says "Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites." and Hebrews 7:25 says, "Therefore He [Jesus] is able, once and forever, to save everyone who comes to God through Him. He lives forever to plead with God on their behalf."

Here is how the apostle Peter instructed some people on how to be saved in Acts, Chapter 2: 38-42:
37 Peter's words convicted them deeply, and they said to him and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?" 38 Peter replied, "Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is to you and to your children, and even to the Gentiles – all who have been called by the Lord our God." 40 Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, "Save yourselves from this generation that has gone astray!" 41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church – about three thousand in all.
42 They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had.
This same apostles' teaching is found in the New Testament of the Bible.
